2003
- 8 Jan 2003
About 09 UT the N antenna started showing weak signals.
Kenneth fixed it the next day on 9 Jan 2003
- 16 January 2003
Between 22:16 and 22:30 UT something happened to the S antenna,
causing the amplitudes to drop to almost nothing.
Fixed on 21 Jan 2003, ca. 10 LT (=09 UT).
- 15 February 2003
Installed upgrade to Bill's Autodsnd.
Started by: D:\Autodsndtr autodsnd
From 1515 UT. At 19:20 UT changed PPlim from 32 to 45 degrees
in analysis software, to allow for offset in PP. Reason unknown.
- 20 Feb 2003
18:41 UT installed Bill's new CLAZZ.FOR routine.
- 26 Feb 2003
20:05 UT Installed updated POLAN routines and another ECList.for
(BTCJ DOPOL EClist jno Join Pol Polfun Polsin Polsub STAT Treview uniphi .for)
- 2 March 2003
15:26 UT compiled Bill's latest updates (two lots) and linked them to 8pulseNtr.exe
- 20 March 2003
From 9 March (ca. 1025 UT) to 20 March (1829 UT) we have been running the
Autodsnd software with some Bear Lake parameters by mistake.
Also discovered poor RF pulse shape, and fwd and refl power readings
are suspicious. They are close to equal when running only HPTx, but
normal when running only A300. Suspect HPTX, perhaps tubes.
- 24 March 2003
From ca. 12 UT changed over to only A300 output driver (200-300W)
to avoid over-stressing the output transformer in the HPTx
due to the unbalance in the tube outputs.
- 23 May 2003
Replaced two valves in transmitter (V1 and V3). V1 (# Y8-2196)
was cold when all other three were warm. Filament resistance
was about 0.4 Ohm when othere show 0.1-0.2 Ohm.
V3 showed no RF after replacing V1 with a new YC236.
V3 also shows 0.3-0.4 Ohms on filament and has open circuit
between pin 6 and all the others(2,3,4,7) which should
all be connected to the cathode.
Replaced V3 (#22-1668) with another (used ?) 3CPX1500A7,
(#IP-0752).
Now output pulse looks fine. Quite well balanced tubes.
From ca. 18:20 UT running on full HPTx.
- 26 May 2003
Found broken wire inside preamp box of S antenna. This has
been broken since 16 January when the outside connections were
repaired. The southern half of the dipole was disconnected all this time.
At the same time the mysteriously high preamp current drawn by this
amplifier (about 270 mA) was found to be due to a faulty capacitor
on the +20V power input to the AM-109. The voltage in fact was only
18.7 V. A new capacitor corrected everything so that the current drawn
is now a normal 175 mA.
- 11 Sept 2003
Discontinued IDI soundings, mainly because of our causing
interference on the IAP MF radar at Andennes at 3.14 MHz.
- 22 Sept 2003
Updated DSND analysis software, resulting in some new output
files and change in format of some others.
